A 16-year-old girl, who was allegedly kidnapped from Faridkot and rescued from Goa a month later, has been found to be pregnant by a board of doctors who examined her late on Sunday after she complained of illness.
Sources said police officials,to avoid any legal complications after she complained of fever, first took her to the local civil hospital from where she was referred to the gynaecology department at the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot. “Despite illness, she was not ready for a medical examination. She could be persuaded only after the psychologists and the doctors at the hospital counselled her. She was medically examined by a board of women doctors late on Sunday,” a senior police officer said. One of the doctors, requesting anonymity, confirmed the tests and
pregnancy.
Earlier, she was produced before the court of chief judicial magistrate, which had been arranged on Sunday to complete the legal formalities, before she was taken to the hospital for medical tests.
The girl was allegedly kidnapped on September 24 by Nishan Singh (19) and his accomplices.
