Redux on Rabindra Sangeet

Rabindranath Tagores legacy defines the cultural consciousness of West Bengal and lies at the core of every Bengalis heart. Rabindranaths songs,rich in melody and words,are now being made more accessible to a newer generation with BIG Digital,Veecon Music & Entertainment Private Ltds new album Tagore Lounge,which celebrates the bards songs through a new soundscape.

New-age maestro Bickram Ghosh has chosen some of Tagores most admired songs and re-interpreted them. The music is injected with Western orchestra tones. The sound transports us to a 60s Blues atmosphere (Amaro porano),and sometimes into regal grandeur (Anandadhaara) or a Sufi-like splendour (Ektuku Chowa). The Indian acoustic instruments (tabla,sitar and sarod) have been juxtaposed with strings,chords,drums,bongos and other Western instruments.
