After installing Aver TV software and driver on a laptop,we connected the USB dongle via USB to start the Aver Hybrid Volar HX,which has a red glowing indicator when the Aver TV is on. The tuner can run digital TV,analogue TV and AM/FM radio. A running program on either of the three can be recorded and saved directly into a laptop,without compromising on the source quality. Also,scheduled recording of a programme is available with it.

We ran digital TV on a laptop with the cable and found it running with perfect clarity and sound,without any glitches just like a 15-inch TV. We also had the option to alter the brightness,contrast and sharpness of a running program as desired. Recording videos from digital TV is a little space consuming,as a four minute recording turned out to be of 250 MB. Now,recording can be done with any TV tuner,so what makes it special? The advantage with Aver TV is that it can be used with a laptop and runs on USB. Further,it includes analogue TV and FM radio.

Analogue TV is ordinary in quality and catches transmission in open spaces only. Some of the negatives of Aver Media include heating up of the USB dongle after some time and poor transmission of FM radio. On the whole,it is an uncommon way of accessing TV on your laptop,but paying Rs 5.500 for that is just not tempting enough.
