Rajasthan minister booked in sexual assault case

A local court Tuesday directed the Jaipur police to register a sexual assault case against Rajasthan Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Babulal Nagar. In a statement before the chief judicial magistrate,a woman has complained that Nagar called her to his house on September 11on the pretext of giving her a suitable job and then sexually assaulted her.

The complaint was lodged in a local court on September 13,two days after the alleged incident. In her statement,the woman has said she was offered alcohol and promised jobs for herself and also her family members. The Jaipur police registered a case of sexual assault and have begun their inquiry.

The allegations against the Congress minister comes barely a couple of months before the Assembly polls.

BJP state chief Vasundhara Raje through tweets lashed out at the state government for not providing security to women and making false claims of women empowerment. “In every state,government is responsible to provide safety and security to women. In our state,ministers of the government resort to heinous acts of harassment against women. Such a government does not deserve to be in power. It is shocking how Congress can talk of women empowerment on the same day when a rape case has been filed against one of their own ministers,” she tweeted.
