Raj Nayak to take over as Colors CEO

Viacom 18 has announced the appointment of Raj Nayak as CEO of its general entertainment channel,Colors.

Viacom 18 has announced the appointment of Raj Nayak as CEO of its general entertainment channel,Colors. Nayak takes over from Rajesh Kamat,(present COO of the Viacom18 Group and CEO of Colors),who will be joining The Chernin Group’s CA Media,as its India CEO,with effect from June 2011. Kamat is credited with the launch of Colors in July 2008,which occupied the top position in the GEC ladder for a year and half.

Nayak joins Colors from AIDEM,a media knowledge process outsourcing,consulting,sales & marketing company,where he was the founder and managing director. Prior to that,he served as the CEO of NDTV Media for seven years. He also worked with the STAR TV Group,where he was executive VP — sales & marketing,and was responsible for strategy,packaging and marketing for STAR Channels. He was also on the board of Vijay TV & Star’s web portal Indya.com.

Speaking on his appointment as CEO,Nayak said,“I’ve always admired Colors for the way it changed the landscape of Indian GEC space within a short span. It has got an amazing team of talented people and I look forward to working with them to continue to create newer benchmarks in the industry.”

Haresh Chawla,group CEO,Viacom18,stated,“Given Raj’s extensive experience and a proven track record,we are confident of him charting out and leading the next phase of growth for Colors. He will be singularly focussing on consolidating the channel’s position in the GEC space.”
