FM brand Radio City 91.1 FM pays an ode to the melodious era by launching Kal Bhi Aaj Bhi Classics,a compilation of the best of retro songs.
To commemorate and celebrate the occasion,Radio City 91.1FM brought together the best of musicians to play their all-time favourite songs live on-ground.
The album was launched with much fanfare by Randhir Kapoor and the host was the livewire RJ Gaurav. The star performer for the event was Amit Kumar. Ameen Sayani,Shreya Ghoshal,Sajid-Wajid,Monish Behl and others were present.
Kala Sangams Divine Moments
Kala Sangam is a Public Charitable Trust that promotes Indian Classical music. It was started by Bobby Sethi,a connoisseur of Indian Classical Music. The legendary Ustad Amir Khan was its Founder-President. Several maestros like Bade Ghulam Ali Khan,Ustad Vilayat Khan,Begum Akhtar,Bhimsen Joshi,Mallikarjun Mansur,Ustad Ali Akbar Khan,Nikhil Banerjee,Kishori Amonkar and many more have graced the Kala Sangam stage. It has Annual Music Festivals and also promotes upcoming artistes along with established greats.
On November 10 and 11 at Mumbais Nehru Centre,Kala Sangams Divine Moments held a two-day fest for music lovers,which encompasses the classical and the divine. On day one,Ustad Shujaat Khan gave a classical sitar recital followed by Sufi renditions and rare bandishein of Ameer Khusrau. Sufiyana Kalaam by Hans Raj Hans,who sang the poetry of the saints Bulleh Shah,Baba Farid and Khusrau and sang Dargah Music. On day two,Ustad Rashid Khan performed vocal music followed by the santoor ace Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Every year Kala Sangam confers the Ustad Amir Khan award to an artiste who has made different contributions in his or her respective field. This year Pandit Anup Jalota was awarded for his contribution to Bhajan Gaayaki,which he has spread the world over. Waheeda Rehman was the guest of honour and presented the Ustad Amir Khan award to Pandit Anup Jalota.
This year Kala Sangam launched a tabloid,Collectors Edition,which is a rare collection of photographs of great masters of Indian Classical Music and Dance from its archives.
