Ra.One in court on eve of release

Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One has courted trouble just before its global release in Dubai on Oct 24.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One has courted trouble just before its global release in Dubai on October 24. Television producer and writer Yash Patnaik has moved the Bombay High Court contending that he is the original copyright owner of the concept and content on which Ra.One,produced by Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment,is based.

Patnaik has sought an injunction on the release until he is given due credit. He has also sought 10 per cent of the profits if he is not given credit.

Appearing for Patnaik, senior counsel Ravindra Kadam argued that the superhero played by Khan resembles Patnaik’s concept of 2006 in “attributes and appearance.” “The super-villain of the (Patnaik’s) script was called One and that in the film is called Ra.One,” Kadam said. Appearing for Khan, senior counsel Virendra Tulzapurkar said,“I have my own script and it is totally different.”
