Gloves are off between Ramdev and the recently disbanded Team Anna.
On the eve of Ramdevs agitation at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, his spokesman S K Tijarawala,in a not-so-subtle dig at the erstwhile Team Anna, which plans to launch a political party, said: All are welcome here but political people are not because this is not a political platform.
Asked if Hazare will participate in the agitation,Tijarawala said: Annaji made a commitment in front of the nation on June 3 that he will participate in Ramlila and we believe he will keep it. As for Team Anna, that team does not exist any more so the question does not arise.
In Ralegan Siddhi, sources close to Hazare said he was unwell and will not participate in Ramdevs agitation. He will not go. This was conveyed to Ramdev by his personal assistant today, said one of his associates. The sources, however, said that if Ramdev keeps insisting,Hazare might visit the rally for a day or so.
In Ramdevs camp, there is a perceptible cooling of ardour for Hazare with whom the yoga guru had pledged a partnership for eternity just four months ago.
Ramdevs advisor Ved Pratap Vaidik said Anna and his team have not only violated the sanctity of a fast and shot themselves in the foot by launching the party but Hazares position that he will support the party but stay out of it is similar to a Persian proverb I will take the marriage vows but you bear the children.
There is also a feeling that the apparently hurried announcement to launch the party was made to preempt a similar move by Ramdev.
Kejriwal wants plea against him rejected
Arvind Kejriwal has asked a Delhi court to dismiss a plea, seeking his prosecution for allegedly making derogatory remarks against MPs. Kejriwal argued that the plea should be dismissed since a similar complaint against him was dismissed by a court in Uttar Pradesh on July 28. The court will take up the matter till September 3. ENS
