The CPM in Kerala has got mired in another controversy over a prominent Muslim leader’s claim that he has obtained a hair of Prophet Muhammed.

Kanthapuram A P Abubacker Musaliyar,who not very long ago shifted his sympathies from the Left to the Congress-led UDF,has announced construction of a Rs 40-crore mosque in Kozhikode to exhibit the hair.

CPM jumped into the controversy when state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan criticised Musaliyar at a seminar in north Kerala’s Vatakara Sunday. “We all know that any hair would singe in fire. But one section says that the hair will not burn.”

Reacting to these remarks,Musaliyar said Vijayan,or for that matter members of any other religious community,had no right to interfere in religious matters of others.
