Athlete Arunima alias Sonu Sinha on Wednesday criticised the railway police for doubting her claim that she lost her leg after she was pushed out of a moving train by some men who tried to snatch her gold chain early on April 11.
Countering the railway police theory,Sonu claimed she had never mentioned in her statement to the police that she was going to take a test for a job in the Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP). She also accused her estranged husband of using the situation,to settle scores.
Examinations for the ITBP and Assam Rifles require a separate entrance form, which I never filled. I had applied for a joint entrance for admission to the CRPF,CISF and the BSF and I was making the trip to see my centre. I have the receipt of my courier of the filled application form, Sonu told The Indian Express over the telephone.
She said she also wanted to get her birth certificate corrected.
After a fortnight of investigations into the incident,AK Jain,ADG Railways, had claimed that her story could not be corroborated with evidence, and she appeared to have tried to commit suicide or met with an accident.
Sonu is being treated at the AIIMS Trauma Centre for pelvic and vertebral fractures, and broken bones in her right leg.
The police also said she appeared to have visited her husband Robin Chitravanshi before she boarded the train, while she claimed she was in her sister and brother-in-laws house in Lucknow.
According to Chitravanshis statement to the police,Sonu had come to apologise and resolve their differences.
