Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said no decision will be taken on the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) without the consent of the state farmers. "Industrial corridor is an important project in which East and West corridor will get connected in UP," Yadav told reporters here after a high level meeting between the officials of the Centre and the state. "But any decision will be taken only when there is consensus of the farmers. No decision will be taken without the consent of the farmers," the Chief Minister said. Meanwhile,Industrial Development Commissioner Anil Kumar Gupta said,as of now 400-500 land of Greater Noida and 100 acres land of UP State Industrial Development Corporation is available for the project. He said in the later phases,land would be taken with the consent of the farmers. "Efforts would be made to make them partners in the project," he said. Gupta said 20 points have been identified under the project in which seven investment zones and 13 industrial zones would be developed. "Of this one industrial zone and one investment zone will be developed in UP," he said. Yadav said both UP and the central government should take benefit of the proposed project,which would include parts of Bulandshahr and Dadri. The meeting,which was chaired by the state's Chief Minister,was also attended by secretary of the centre Saurabh Chandra and chairman of DMIC Amitabh Kant. Gupta said with the execution of the project,an investment of Rs 75,000 crore is estimated in the state and would create 12 lakh employment opportunities. "A special purpose vehicle will be set up for the project and its chairman and chief executive officer will be from UP," Gupta said. IDC's Chandra said efforts would be made to cover 20,000 hectares of land in the project. He said the state would contribute in form of land in the project which has Japanese funding.
