Murdoch led anti-graft training campaign for Star India staff

He says,"We trained more than 1,000 employees at Star India and elsewhere."

James Murdoch,chairman of Star Group Limited in Asia,has said to the Leveson Inquiry that after the phone-hacking row last summer,he had led efforts to train employees of Star India in the company’s anti-corruption policies.

Setting out his efforts to enhance corporate governance in Murdoch-owned companies after the phone-hacking scandal,he said in his witness statement to the inquiry that he personally led efforts in this direction since the summer of 2011.

“We have trained more than 1,000 employees at Star India,Fox Turkey,News International and other businesses throughout the region on News Corporation’s anti-corruption policies and procedures”,he said in the statement available on the

inquiry’s website.

Mentioning his role in News Corp and affiliated companies,Murdoch said: “STAR TV is a broadcasting business with primary operations in India,greater China and South East Asia,comprising entertainment,news and sports broadcasting channels,primarily at the time in Hindi,Mandarin and Cantonese”.
