MP ruckus: Governor talks to CM,Speaker

Madhya Pradesh Governor Ramnaresh Yadav Saturday called CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan to discuss the controversial end to the monsoon session

Madhya Pradesh Governor Ramnaresh Yadav Saturday called CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan to discuss the controversial end to the monsoon session of the assembly.

The session ended abruptly Thursday without debating the no-confidence motion brought by the opposition Congress after its own deputy leader in the house opposed it before defecting to the BJP. The treasury benches had argued that deputy leader Rakesh Singh Chaudhary’s action meant that the Congress legislature party was not unanimous in moving the no-trust motion making it infructuous.

Speaker Ishwardas Rohani agreed with the interpretation even as Congress legislators insisted that the motion be heard because all except Chaturvedi were for the debate and the motion was signed by requisite number of MLAs.

While disallowing the motion,Rohani adjourned the assembly sine die after Legislative Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra moved a proposal to that effect, saying all the legislative business was over.
