Hats off to Rajiv Vijayakar (Rare Chords,Screen,Nov. 26). I would like to add some other rare playback singer voices pictured on Dev Anand during the ‘40s and ‘50s when G.M.Durrani,Narayan,Shankar Das Gupta,S,D.Batish and Manna Dey sang for Dev. Durrani gave playback for Dev in Khel (Hamen yahaan jeena and Apni mehfil main chala),Dilruba (Humne khayi hai ) and Shair (Do bichhade hue dil,a duet with Lata). Narayan sang in Udhaar (Mara mara firangi tirangi re) with music by Vasant Desai and later composed music for Mordhwaj in 1952. S.D.Batish gave playback in Dushman (Dekhe hai nainwa ke baan) a duet with Asha Bhosle on Dev and Kumkum. Shankar Das Gupta sang Chaahe kitni kathin,a duet with Suraiya,in Jeet. In Manzil Manna Dey sang Hum dum se gaye. C. Ramachandra sang for Dev in Baarish (Daane daane pai likha and Kehte hai pyar jisko—duet with Lata).
