Human Resource Development Minister M M Pallam Raju was on Friday asked about the fate of several education Bills that are pending in Parliament,now that there are only two sessions remaining before the country goes to polls next year. The minister replied that the Bills will be passed in the Monsoon session or after the UPA comes back to power next year.

THE Women and Child Development Ministry is getting used to working without a secretary. The incumbent,Prem Narain,has been on leave for medical reasons for about a month now. Nita Chowdhury,Youth Affairs Secretary who was given additional charge,has now gone on a weeklong trip to China. Things in the interim have come to such a pass that all the files are being sent straight to the ministers office.

AFTER spotting former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and his wife at his residence talking to somebody who had a goat in his arms,TV channels went into overdrive,with many channels suggesting that the goat might be for sacrifice in order to bring good omen to the embattled minister who had to resign later in the evening on Friday. It took some time for Bansals aides to explain that the minister is a strict vegetarian and very religious-minded but not superstitious. All that he had done was to feed the goat,it was explained.
