In a breakthrough in the two-day search for a crashed Air Force MiG-29 in the mountains of Lahaul-Spiti Himachal Pradesh,a sarpanch leading a local search team has claimed to have found the crash spot near Thirot,40 km from district headquarter Keylong. Jagdish Sharma,who returned to Thirot after a day-long search in snow-covered Chokang told The Indian Express over phone that he spotted three pieces of the crashed aircraft. I have informed the police.IAF officials have also spoken to me. They are coming here tomorrow to examine the pieces. Two boys of my team who were ahead of me also found snow that had turned totally dark at one place, he said. SP,Lahaul-Spiti,Bimal Gupta,said police teams will start movement to the spot identified by Jagdish Sharma. Earlier in the day,the IAF and the Army deployed four choppers to trace the crashed fighter,but had no success.
