MDI organises TCI annual global conference

Management Development Institute in collaboration with Institute for Competitiveness India recently hosted the 13th TCI Annual Global Conference at its campus in Gurgaon.

Management Development Institute in collaboration with Institute for Competitiveness India recently hosted the 13th TCI Annual Global Conference at its campus in Gurgaon.

The conference gathered practitioners from Indian and global clusters to create a discussion forum for the future of clusters.

Giving a keynote address on Growth and Policy Initiatives,Janamitra Devan,Vice-President and Head of Network,Financial and Private Sector Development,The World Bank Group,USA elaborated on the role of private sector in restructuring and building the economy of developed and developing nations.

He also spoke about how public-private sector partnership will help the economies to unlock opportunities.

Answering a series of questions about the role of governments in creating a level playing field,Devan spoke about the experiences of the World Bank in working with governments in countries in various stages of development. For instance,he highlighted that though savings are high in China,the country needs to focus on the strategies to generate income for the overall growth of the economy. He also emphasized that China’s success does not mean its development approach is applicable to other Asian countries,including India. A “one size fits all” approach does not work.

Key speakers at the Conference included: Antoni Subirà,Professor,IESE and President of TCI Board of Advisors,Brian Roberts,Director,Strategic Planning and Management Services,Michael Enright,Director,Enright,Scott & Associates and former professor at Harvard Business School among others.
