Maruti to expand network by 200 more dealerships

Maruti Suzuki,is expanding its distribution network and plans to add 200 more dealerships,as demand has picked up in the auto sector.

India’s top car-maker,Maruti Suzuki,is expanding its distribution network and plans to add 200 more dealerships,as demand has picked up in the auto sector.

The company’s Chief General Manager (Marketing),Shashank Srivastava,said Maruti currently has 800-plus outlets covering more than 500 cities. “Our intention is to take up the number of outlets to 1,000 this fiscal,” he said.

The company is also betting big on the rural market.

“Last year,we did very good sales in rural areas,where the growth was very,very good. Nearly 17 per cent of our sales were in the rural segment against nine per cent in the previous year (2008-09),” Srivastava said.

“We have gained good ground in the rural market and we will continue on that,” he said.

He said the company was also focusing on the corporate sector,as it sees demand going up in this space.
