Theres a lot of curiosity as to who will be doing the sequel to Abhishek Chaubheys Ishqiya. While it has been confirmed that Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi will be part of Ishqiya 2,the leading lady is not yet confirmed. Buzz is that Madhuri Dixit-Nene is all set to replace Vidya Balan,who played a stellar role in the original. However,no one associated with the film is willing to confirm anything. I really dont want to speculate in the media at this point of time,because the project is in a very fragile stage where the script and casting is being finalised, said Chaubhey. The director did not say why Balan was not part of the project but he did mention that Madhuri knows that a sequel is being made and she is interested in the film. A source close to Shemaroo Entertainment,which co-produced Ishqiya with Vishal Bhardwaj,also told Screen that Madhuri has been almost finalised.
