Neha Dhupia does a stint as a dacoit in her latest flick and also raps for a song in the movie.

Last seen in Action Replayy as the ‘70s girl, the ultra-glam Neha Dhupia is geared up to shed her image. The actress will be seen as a female ‘Gabbar’ in her upcoming film Phas Gaye Re Obama.

Talking about the movie, the actress says,“Phas Gaye Re Obama is a comedy set against the backdrop of global recession. The film showcases the journey of Om Shastri,an American citizen of Indian origin who loses his money, house and everything overnight to recession. He has to pay a total amount of $100,000 to the bank. He then thinks of coming to India to sell a small ancestral property in order to make money. But when he comes to India,a recession hit-underworld gang, thinking that he is a millionaire. kidnaps him.”

This is the first time that Dhupia will be seen playing a role of a U.P.-based gangster called Munni madam and will be seen carrying a gun, wearing a teeka and baggy clothes. Playing Munni though was not easy for Neha, but it was her director’s faith in her that boosted her confidence, she says. “One thing boosted me and that was when the director told me that when he was writing the character of Munni,he thought of me! This pepped me up as he showed confidence in me,without even knowing me personally. So I have put in a lot of efforts and worked really hard on my accent and my body language to play the role convincingly. He spoon-fed me to get it right, but I too have put my own thoughts to portray Munni in the right sense.”

According to Neha, the designer of the film,Veera Kapoor, has put in efforts to make her look like a true gangster. The actress says,“He has worked on the costume and has also designed for the entire cast. He did not want to typecast me or make me look like a godmother or a Phoolan Devi. He did his own research and came up with the look that you can see in the promos.”

While Dabangg’s Munni entertained the audience with her dance,Munni from this movie will entertain the viewers with her singing. On her first-ever singing attempt,Neha says,“I am not singing but rapping. One day,the director suddenly called me and told me about this. I was totally shocked as I am not even a bathroom singer! But he told me that he wanted a bad voice for the song, well, that was a kind of relief for me! But believe me,I am not attempting to sing ever again for any movie.”

We will be seeing Neha again with her Raat Gayi Baat Gayi co-star Rajat Kapur. When asked about a good and bad thing about him,the actress quips,“The good thing about him is that he is a fabulous actor, director and writer and a great human being,I have never seen anyone as talented as him before. A bad thing about him would be…his dancing. He is a terrible dancer. I feel like Hrithik Roshan when I am dancing next to him.”

Talking about her Diwali release,Action Replayy, which bombed at the box-office,she feels that the fate of any movie is not in her hands. For Neha, acting is her profession and not her life. “There are other things to my life besides acting,” she signs off.
