Madhuri Dixit is clearly walking many extra miles to make her presence felt, even as she gets ready for a second innings in films. The Dhak dhak girl is getting ready to walk the ramp for the first time for fashion designer Anju Modi at next week’s PCJ Delhi Couture Week 2012. Modi’s show will be held at The Taj Palace in Delhi on August 10.

The designer, who is bubbling with excitement at having Dixit on board, says,“My association with Madhuri goes way back. I’ve designed clothes for her,for award functions and photoshoots. Recently,I designed about six garments for the latest season of the television talent show,Jhalak Dikhla Ja.” Her collection,“Devi”,draws inspiration from powerful female characters of Bengali literature and cinema.

“This collection revolves around a strong,passionate,awe-inspiring woman, and the first person that came to my mind was Madhuri. Not only she is a successful actor, she is also a passionate dancer and an articulate speaker,” says Modi, adding that Dixit’s critically acclaimed portrayal of Chandramukhi in the 2002 film Devdas also helped her make the decision.

Though this will be Dixit’s first time on the ramp, she was spotted in the front row at Varun Bahl’s opening show at the Delhi Couture Week last year. “I am thrilled to walk the ramp for Anju. I wear a lot of her designs and she’s created some great pieces for me over the last few months. When I learnt about the inspiration behind this collection and the strength of character it portrays,I was all for it,” said Dixit in a statement.
