13 mowed down by truck in UP

Etawah: Thirteen people,including 11 women,were on Saturday killed and five others injured when they were run over by a truck on Etawah-Farukkhabad road,police said here. All the 13 were sitting by the roadside when the truck ran over them after the driver lost control of the vehicle. Agitated residents blocked traffic. The truck driver has been detained.

Doc ‘stole’ 2-yr-old’s kidney,booked

JAIPUR: A plastic surgeon at the SMS government hospital has been booked for allegedly removing a two-year-old boy’s kidney,leading to his death,the police said Saturday. In a complaint lodged with the Motidoongari police station,the boy’s father accused Pradeep Goyal of secretly removing his son’s kidney during an operation on his finger. The boy died four days later after suffering from complications due to the kidney’s removal,his father alleged.

Schoolboy charged with molestation

KOLKATA: A Class VIII student has been arrested for allegedly molesting a school teacher in Kidderpore,the police said. The teacher alleged the student molested her inside a classroom three days ago,after which she lodged an FIR,they said. As the student is below 18 years of age,the case is under the Juvenile Justice Board. The student was produced before the court and ordered a 14-day stay in a juvenile home.

No improvement in Capt Sehgal health

KANPUR: The condition of Captain Lakshmi Sehgal,97,who fought in Subhash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army,continued to remain critical,family members said on Saturday. Sehgal was hospitalised after suffering a cardiac arrest two days ago. Her condition is “deteriorating” and she has been kept on life support system,her daughter said.
