Amid the friction between Tamil Nadu and Kerala over the Mullaperiyar dam,former President A P J Abdul Kalam on Wednesday said India cannot afford a civil war on water and suggested deployment of armed forces to maintain rivers and dams. “India can’t afford a civil war on water… rivers and dams have to be operated and maintained by Army,Navy or other armed forces for equitable distribution,” he said.

In a stern warning to Pakistan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday said the neighbouring country must stop sponsoring terrorism if it wants to retain its place on the world map. Speaking to soldiers at Anupgarh in Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar district, the Chief of Army Staff declared that India’s approach in future conflicts would be far more aggressive compared to Operation Sindoor.
