Weavers pin their hopes on Kareena,Games

After Kareena Kapoor’s unexpected help,the beleaguered weavers from Chanderi are pinning their hopes on the Commonwealth Games. The weavers from this famous town have taken pride in the fact that they crafted 1,375 angavastrams (stoles) for medal winners.

They hope to make money by selling at the venue another 10,000 pieces that represent a dozen-odd participating countries. Last year,it was Kareena Kapoor who had championed their cause while promoting 3 Idiots. The star came to Chanderi,dined with the weavers,and invited some of them to Mumbai. Kareena’s promotion saw them sell more than 600 cheaper versions of a black and gold saree that Aamir Khan had gifted her.

T-Series gets music rights of My Love Story

Following the success of Wanted and Dabangg,T-Series has now acquired the audio rights of Salman Khan’s next film My Love Story. Produced by Atul Agnihotri, My Love Story is the remake of the Malayalam super-hit Body Guard and has Salman Khan in the main lead. It is directed by Siddique and the music has been composed by Pritam.

FTII to host International Students’ Film Festival

The Film and Television Institute of India will host the first Intentional Students’ Film Festival from 24-28 September as part of its golden jubilee celebrations. Fifty movies from Indian and international film institutes will be screened at this event. As many as 25 film institutes will participate in the festival. Each school will be represented by a student with his or her film. Apart from the screenings,there will be an open forum where filmmakers will interact with the audience. Awards will be given out in three categories: Fiction,Non-Fiction and Animation.

Anjum Rizvi’s A Flat to release on Oct 8

Producer Anjum Rizvi’s horror thriller A Flat is scheduled for release on October 8. The film has Jimmy Sheirgill,Sanjay Suri,Hazel and Sachin Khedekar in lead roles and marks the directorial debut of Hemant Madhukar. The script has been written by Ajay Monga and the music score has been composed by Bappa Lahiri.

Dev Anand’s Chargesheet towards first print

The mixing of sound-tracks of Navketan International’s Chargesheet was completed recently at Rajkamal Kala Mandir,Mumbai. The negative cutting of the film will commence shortly. Written,produced and directed by Dev Anand,who also plays the lead role along with Naseeruddin Shah and Jackie Shroff,the movie also introduces two new heroes and heroines.
