Jet hardens stand; sacks two more pilots

Jet Airways management sacked two more pilots after over 400 of its pilots went on a mass sick leave.

Hardening its stance,Jet Airways management on Tuesday sacked two more pilots after over 400 of its pilots went on a mass sick leave to protest last month’s termination of two of their colleagues’ services, paralyzing the private airline’s flights nation-wide.

“Jet Airways has a commitment to its passengers and maintaining the smooth operations of services. We have therefore taken disciplinary action against two pilots who were found to be violating company’s rule,” Jet Airways spokesperson said in a statement here.

“As a matter of abundant caution,we have followed all the provisions applicable when the matter is under conciliation,” the airline said.

“The management has sacked three more of our colleagues today,” a source in National Aviator’s Guild (NAG),the union spearheading the agitation, said.

The three sacked Jet pilots are Suhail Jain,Rashmi Gaur and Venkat Vinod, the source said.

Earlier,Jet Chairman Naresh Goyal had appealed to the agitating pilots to return to work but this was turned down by the Guild, affecting nearly 200 flights.
