JeM militant killed in encounter

A top Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) commander was killed in an encounter with the police and the Army in Pulwama

A top Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) commander was killed in an encounter with the police and the Army in Pulwama on Wednesday. Altaf Ahmad Baba was the Divisional Commander for south Kashmir.

Acting on a specific input about the presence of JeM militants in Achagoza village,a joint team of the police and the Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles had cordoned off the village.

Militants reportedly opened indiscriminate fire as the police and the Army zeroed-in on the target house. Police retaliated resulting in the death of the militant.

Altaf had joined JeM five years ago. According to the police,Altaf was involved in several killings in south Kashmir and was categorized as A++ militant.
