Interlocutors to take call on quitting today

Interlocutors opine that they had outlived their purpose and should quit, sources say.

Following the death of Kishenji, the interlocutors appointed by the Mamata Banerjee government to start a dialogue with the Maoists will meet Monday and take a call on whether to continue in their jobs.

Sources said almost all the interlocutors are of the opinion that they had outlived their purpose and should quit.

Maoist ideologue Varvara Rao said the interlocutors had no role to play now. Chotton Das,however, said they did not take the assignment “at the request of Varvara Rao”. “We accepted the offer following a call of our conscience. However tomorrow we will sit and take a final decision,’’ Das said.
