Islamabad: Pakistani cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan has sent a legal notice to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman claiming damages of Rs 500 million for allegedly defaming him.
The notice,sent Thursday,said Rehman accused Khan of being a Jewish agent in a TV interview on August 3. He also alleged that Khan has a foreign agenda backed by the Jewish lobby.
Canadian city names street after Mahatma Gandhi
Toronto: A street in Canadas Winnipeg city has been named after Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Indias 67th Independence Day. The street leading to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights will now be known as Honorary Mahatma Gandhi Way. At a ceremony Thursday,Mayor of Winnipeg Sam Katz said said it was appropriate the roadway leading to the museum be associated with an individual synonymous with the struggle for human rights.
Mahatma Gandhi was a spiritual and political leader whose
influence is still felt today, Katz told a crowd that included representatives from Indian and aboriginal communities.
Terror accused Abu Qatadas family leaves UK
London: The family of Abu Qatada has left the UK to join the radical Muslim cleric in Jordan,where he was deported to last month. Qatadas wife and five children gave up their fight to permanently stay in Britain and were driven from their taxpayer-funded home in north-west London to Heathrow airport by officials from the Home Office yesterday. They flew from Heathrow to Amman on a scheduled flight.
