Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued show-cause notices to six legislators, including BJP MP from Indore Sumitra Mahajan and Congress MP from East Delhi Sandeep Dixit, for allegedly furnishing wrong information to get a house under the MP Housing Board’s schemes.
The notices,as to why they should not be made respondents, were issued by the division bench of Justices Sushil Harkouli and Alok Aradhe on the petition filed by former Director Generals of Police (DGP) Arun Gurtoo and Upendra Varma today.
The petitioners have challenged the 20 per cent quota for MPs and MLAs in the Housing Board’s flats, even if they have served for only one term, when there is no quota for government servants,Gurtoo said.
Petitioners’ counsel Siddharth Gupta said they had identified 11 cases, but found evidence only in six, where legislators had got houses/flats from the board, despite already owning houses.
Based on the court’s orders, and after getting sufficient evidence, remaining MPs and MLAs would also be made parties to the case,Gupta said.
According to the petition,Dixit had applied for a house despite not being even a legislator from Madhya Pradesh.
The others against whom show-cause notices were issued today are Rewa MP Deoraj Singh,MLAs Arvind Singh,Sunil Jaiswal and former MLA Gurusharan Singh.
