Though both Houses remained dysfunctional on Friday, the government ruled out a sine die adjournment of Parliament before May 10,when the Budget Session is scheduled to conclude. The government indicated that it planned going ahead with the National Food Security Bill and the Land Acquisition Bill, which were expected to impact the voting pattern in next Lok Sabha polls.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath replied in the negative when reporters asked him whether Parliament will be adjourned sine die before May 10. He maintained that most parties wanted Parliament to function.

Compelled by disruptions,Speaker Meira Kumar first adjourned the Lok Sabha soon after it had met and later called it a day a few minutes after 12 noon. Members belonging to BJP,Shiv Sena,Akali Dal and the Samajwadi Party came into the Well and shouted slogans. The BJP-Shiv Sena chant was koyle ki dalali main, poori Congress kaali hai entire Congress in tainted in coal scam. The Akali members waved placards which sought a Supreme Court-monitored Special Investigation Team probe into the 1984 genocide.
