Hilton moves HC against order on brand use

US-based Hilton International Corporation, has moved the Rajasthan HC challenging a local court's order.

US-based Hilton International Corporation, which runs a chain of hotels across the globe, has moved the Rajasthan High Court challenging a local court’s order barring it from carrying out business in India under a brand deceptively similar to the Hilltone Hotel.

The New York-based corporation, which has operations in 80 countries, was restrained by a local court in Rajasthan from using any kind of “misleading logo and mark” that is similar to Sirohi-based Hilltone Hotel.

A statement issued by Hilton said that “the decision has been appealed before Rajasthan High Court’s Jodhpur Bench.”

“We confirm that a district court in Rajasthan has issued an injunction that restrains Hilton International from using the name Hilltone and an associate logo that is being used by a local party which operates a Hilltone hotel in Mount Abu,” the statement said.
