Members in the Rajya Sabha today expressed anguish over a Haryana Government notification which blocked 67 per cent state jobs for men, leaving women with only one-third of the job share in the name of reservation for women. The issue was raised by Brinda Karat (CPI-M) who said the state government has done reservation in reverse. The state government has reserved 67 per cent jobs for men, turning the reservation policy upside down, she said. She was joined by the members of Congress, the ruling party in the state. She said the screening committee of the state government had followed discriminatory norms against women in selection of teachers. The cut-off marks for the selection were higher for women than men,she said. Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan said the "whole House wants to associate" with the members on the issue. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ashwini Kumar said the members' concern would be conveyed to the state government. Through another mention,R C Singh (CPI) expressed concern over the alleged killing of labourers who demanded fair wages under MGNREGA job scheme in Jharkhand.
