US motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson Inc said on Thursday it expected to start selling its motorcycles in India in 2010.
The company said in a statement it had set up an Indian unit and was in the process of seeking dealers.
India is the world’s second-biggest market for motorcycles, where small, inexpensive bikes dominate sales, but Harley said it expects a growing economy, rising middle class and investment in highways to boost leisure motorcycle riding.
