Girl burnt alive by lover’s father in UP

A 19-year-old girl was burnt alive by her lover’s father at Karahkol village in Deoria district on Thursday. The incident occurred after the girl’s mother raised objections when the panchayat turned down her request to let her daughter marry the boy. The girl’s mother was allegedly beaten up by the village pradhan,members of the panchayat and the boy’s father.

The girl,who suffered over 85 per cent burns,died on the way to the hospital.

DSP Umesh Kumar Srivastava said a case of murder has been registered against the boy’s father and others. One of the named accused,Kapil,has been arrested,he added.
