Saif Ali Khan,who plays a dalit in Prakash Jhas Aarakshan,got so involved in his character that he would sit with the director for long hours discussing and researching about the same. Confirms Jha,Saif would have a lot of questions based on his role,he would sit with me and discuss a lot about the minute details and history of the dalits. He got so involved that he thought it would be better to portray that character after a lot of research. Saif,initially,was against the reservation system followed in India but as the film shooting proceeded and he got into the role he started believing in the reservation practice. He said,I realised that in the interior of India,there are serious issues pertaining to the Dalits. They are still being treated badly and this changed my perception about the policy.
