Rescue operations in Uttarakhand is the new poll agenda in poll-bound Rajasthan, with both the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP exchanging barbs on Tuesday. While Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot targeted Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for politicising the rescue operations,BJP state chief Vasundhara Raje pulled up the central and Uttarakhand governments for not doing enough for the victims.
Hinting at Modis claims of rescuing 15,000 Gujarati victims,Gehlot said some leaders are politicising the rescue operations.
Every state is extending help but one should not claim that we have done so much for my own people… As for Rajasthan,we were the first to send out teams to Uttarakhand for rescue and did not discriminate against victims belonging to other states, Gehlot said.
Some leaders claim that they rescued thousands of victims. I wonder how that is even possible when in a single trip only 40 victims can be rescued, Gehlot said, referring to Modi.
Gehlot also hit out at Raje, asking her to open up her farmhouse in Uttarakhand to the victims. Vasundhara Raje has a farmhouse there in Uttarakhand. She should offer them a place to stay there, he said.
