Even as the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court on Monday extended the police custody of arrested journalist Jigna Vora and Chhota Rajan-aide Paulson Joseph till December 9 in the J Dey murder case,investigators said a close family friend of Vora had come forward and surrendered a mobile phone allegedly given to her by the journalist. This is the sixth mobile phone allegedly used by Vora at different times,which has been seized by the Crime Branch. On Saturday,a woman from Surat who is Voras close family friend came to the Crime Branch office and surrendered a phone. She claimed that this phone had been given to her by Vora,and that she wanted to surrender it in the interest of investigations, said a Crime Branch officer who did not wish to be named. This woman is now being made a witness in the case,and her statement has been recorded. The phone has been sent to the forensic science laboratory for analysis, said the officer. The Crime Branch had seized two mobile phones from Vora when she was arrested on November 25.
