Digvijaya targets Sri Sri again,BJP hits back

As AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh stepped up his attack on Art of Living guru Sri Sri Ravishankar, the BJP hit back

As AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh stepped up his attack on Art of Living guru Sri Sri Ravishankar, the BJP on Saturday hit back, seeking a clarification from the Congress on whether Singh was in charge of the party’s “dirty tricks department”.

Hinting at Ravishankar’s links with the Sangh Parivar,Singh tweeted today: “Sri Sriji releases Nitin Gadkariji’s book. Advaniji and Suresh Soniji of RSS on the dais. Sri Sri Ji ko Jai Ho.”

Earlier this week,Singh had alleged that the anti-corruption campaigns by Anna Hazare and Ramdev were part of an overall plan of the RSS-BJP to divert attention from the Sangh’s “terror links” and warned Ravishankar that he too could be used by them.

While refraining from naming Singh,BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said today: “A Congress general secretary, who is suffering from foot-in-the-mouth disease, has been mocking Baba Ramdev,Anna Hazare and now Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar… We demand specific answers from Sonia Gandhi, and preferably from Rahul Gandhi, whether he is their spokesperson.”

Rudy cited a statement made by Singh in December 2010 in which he maintained that he had the blessings of both Sonia and Rahul in whatever he did or said.

Rudy added: “The BJP is constrained to ask the question whether he (Singh) has been made in-charge of the dirty tricks department of the Congress party… Or the topmost leadership of the Congress party has given him the responsibility to raise trivial and controversial issues to divert the attention of the country from corruption?”
