DCM Shriram Industries profit dips 57 pc

DCM Shriram Industries Ltd reported a fall of 57 per cent in its net profit to Rs 3.33 crore for the quarter ended December 31,2010.

DCM Shriram Industries Ltd (DSIL) today reported a fall of 57 per cent in its net profit to Rs 3.33 crore for the quarter ended December 31,2010.

The company had reported a profit of Rs 7.64 crore in the year-ago period.

However,the total income of the company rose by 35 per cent to Rs 241.38 crore as against Rs 178.97 crore in the corresponding period previous year,the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

DSILs’ total expenditure in the period under review rose by 40.20 per cent at Rs 231.02 crore as against Rs 164.77 crore in the year-ago period.

The company is a diversified group with operations in sugar,alcohol,organic and inorganic chemicals,drug intermediates,rayon tyrecord,shipping containers and processed cotton yarn.

The shares of the company closed at Rs 74.80 up 3.89 per cent on Friday at the Bombay Stock Exchange.
