CIL misses output target for May,produces 34.5 MT of coal

The company also missed it offtake target of 40.9 MT for the month.

State-run CIL today said it produced 34.5 million tonnes (MT) of coal in May,missing its target of 36.5 MT for the month.

The company also missed it offtake target of 40.9 MT for the month,achieving an offtake of 38.2 MT,Coal India (CIL) said in a filing to BSE.

In April and May together the PSU produced 70.3 MT of coal against the target of 71.6 MT,the company said.

CIL’s offtake for the first two months of the current fiscal stood at 78 MT as against the target of 80.9 MT for the period,it said.

The company had achieved an output of 452 MT for the last fiscal against the target of 464 MT. CIL’s offtake during FY13 stood at 465 MT.

The Coal Ministry had earlier said CIL would miss the production target for the last fiscal and had attributed the shortfall to workers strike and other issues.

The Coal ministry has set a production target of 482 MT and off-take of 492 MT for CIL for the current fiscal.
