Chana prices remain weak on subdued demand

Chana futures prices fell further by Rs 15 or 0.66 per cent at Rs 2,262 per quintal in futures trade today on weak demand in spot market amid forecast of normal monsoon rainfall.

Adequate stocks position in domestic markets also guided speculators to reduce their holdings in futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange,chana for June-month contract fell Rs 15 or 0.66 per cent to Rs 2,362 per quintal in trading a volume of 45 lots.

Chana for July delivery declined by Rs 11 or 0.47 per cent to Rs 2,315 per quintal in a business volume of 12 lots.

Traders said,subdued demand in the domestic market against increased arrivals from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan mainly led to a fall in chana futures prices at the futures market.
