Dedicated music sessions in memory of Mohammed Rafi,awards in his name to composer-lyricist Ravindra Jain and singer Suman Kalyanpur,the naming of Mumbais 16th Road,Bandra as Mohd Rafi Road and the beautification of Bandras Rafi Chowk will be part of the celebrations of the day in the city. There were a record number of musical tribute shows on July 31,the 30th death anniversary of Mohd Rafi and the trend continues all over India. In Kozhikode,singers from Mumbai presented Rafi songs at two different venues on December 24. In Mumbai a show of Rafi songs recorded over 50 years ago was presented. Another show was also presented in the suburb of Ghatkopar. Aadyaa Creations organised its maiden event Kal Bhi,Aaj Bhi Rafi at Mumbais Ravindra Natya Mandir on December 10. It featured evergreen songs of Mohammed Rafi like Nazar bachakar chale gaye,Dhalti jaye raat,Din dhal jaye,Koi sone ke dilwala,Suhani raat,Raat ke humsafar,Abhi na jao chhodkar,Diwana hua badal,Ehsaan tera hoga and others. Singers Srikant Narayan and Sarita Rajesh sang at the event organised by Pushpa Aadarkar and co-ordinated by Rajesh Subramanian of Musicolor. Ajay Madan was the music arranger. On December 11,Musicolor organised Sureela Safar - A Melodious Journey featuring solos and duets of Mohammed Rafi from films like Junglee,Guide,An Evening In Paris,Kaajal,Hum Dono,Jewel Thief,Kala Bazaar among others. Srikant Narayan and Sarita Rajesh rendered the compositions and the event was conceived and designed by Rajesh Subramanian.
