The CBI on Monday decided to make the statement made by Defence Minister A K Antony in Rajya Sabha in March that former Army chief Gen V K Singh had told him about the Rs 14-crore bribe offer made by Lt Gen Tejinder Singh (retd) part of evidence in its probe.
The statement made by Antony is an important evidence on the allegation, said a CBI official.
The CBI probe has also brought into focus the alleged links of Tejinder and Vectra chairman Ravinder Rishi with two businessmen. It has already questioned both Tejinder and Rishi in the case of alleged bribe offer to Gen Singh for clearing 1,676 sub-standard Tatra BEML trucks.
On Monday, the CBI,in a bid to ascertain whether businessmen Gautam Thadani and brother-in-law Rajan Madhu acted as mediators between Tejinder and Rishi, raided their houses and later questioned them. They seized Rs 98 lakh from Thadanis bedroom.
It has come to light that Thadani, managing director of Global Healthline, reportedly financed Rishi several times. The CBI has also claimed to have found communications between Rishi and Thadani, which referred to Tejinder. Both Thadani and Rajan Madhu, director of F Bar and Lounge at The Ashok, were called for questioning and then confronted with Tejinder and Rishi.
Meanwhile, the CBI has also questioned two executives of Vectra, its MD Anil Mansharamani and CFO Vikram Kakaiya,at the agency headquarters.
Investigators said Tejinders visit to Gen Singhs office and offering him a bribe has been established with the help of other circumstantial evidence. It is alleged that Tejinder was aware about the movement of the Tatra truck file, which was pending with Gen Singh. Rishi is alleged to have approached Tejinder as he was scared to make a bribe offer.
