Bus conductors’ vacancies get 5500 applications from graduates

Around 200 female candidates also figured among graduate applicants for these posts.

In a startling statistic,the city municipal transport corporation here received around 5500 applications for bus conductors’ posts from candidates who hold graduate and post-graduate degrees.

The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) had advertised 1659 vacancies for bus conductors,drawing a response from about 36,000 candidates,out of which the figure of graduates and post graduates put together was around 5500,PMPML spokesperson Deepak Pardeshi said.

He said the process of interviews which began today will continue until September 18 to select candidates for PMPML’s expanding fleet catering to lakhs of commuters in the city and the neighbouring Pimpri Chinchwad township.

Vacancies for these posts are filled on contract basis and later regularised,he said,adding that during the contract period,employees are paid daily wages of Rs 423,with an additional tea allowance of Rs 20.
