The two-day strike by non-executive employees demanding wage revision, and an indefinite agitation by engineers of state-owned BSNL did not have a major impact as subscribers got uninterrupted services in most regions. The company has set up a control rooms at state and district levels to monitor the situation. BSNL offers telecom services across the country except in Delhi and Mumbai.
A section of non-executive employees are striking work demanding increased wages, career progression and the absorption of group 8216;A8217; officers in BSNL. The state-run firm has in a release said that the issue of absorption of group 8216;A8217; officers is under active consideration and is likely to be finalised soon. While the BSNL management had offered to set up an appropriate mechanism to settle the other issues, the offer has been rejected by the agitating executives.
