ISI victim wins right to appeal in UK court
London: A Pakistani origin man,who alleged that he was tortured by the ISI with the complicity of British spy agencies,has won the right to appeal against his terror convictions in a British court. The lawyers of 34-year-old Rangzieb Ahmed,who was convicted for being a member of the banned Islamist terror group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen,argued that British complicity in his unlawful detention and torture by ISI in Pakistan was so great that his conviction should be overturned.

MATAMOROS: The sprawling remains of Hurricane Alex drenched much of northern Mexico on Thursday,paralysing the major city of Monterrey. At least two people were killed when dry rivers roared to life and highways turned into rushing streams.
Naomi subpoenaed in war crimes case
AMSTERDAML: An international court on Thursday subpoenaed reluctant supermodel Naomi Campbell to testify this month in the war crimes trial of former Liberian President Charles Taylor,warning her she could be jailed for up to seven years if she refuses. She was ordered to appear in court in The Hague on July 29 at 9 am or to show good cause why you cannot comply with this subpoena.
Petraeus vows to spare civilians in Afghan war
Brussels: US Gen David Petraeus pledged on Thursday to give his forces the right firepower to fight the Taliban but insisted that sparing civilian lives remained a priority. Petraeus was at NATO headquarters in Brussels to brief allies before taking up his post in Afghanistan,where a new bout of fighting left at least 31 Taliban dead in Helmand. There are concerns among the ranks of some of our troops on the ground that some of the processes have become a bit too bureaucratic, he said.
