Bengal: Woman raped,killed by father-in-law Bardhaman: A woman (20) was allegedly raped and killed by her 62-year-old father-in-law in Bardhaman district,the police said Sunday. On Saturday,the womans body was found hanging at her Sordanga village home where she was staying with her father-in-law while her husband was in Bangalore. On Friday,she had called her mother saying that she was raped,following which her mother lodged an FIR. Police surmise that the girls father-in-law raped her in his sons absence and when she informed her mother,he killed her. Based on the FIR,the father-in-law has been arrested,the police said. Four children drown in canal in Andhra Srikakulam: Four children who ventured into the Vamsadara canal near Subhalaya village for a bath,drowned on Sunday morning. A fifth child managed to escape. Villagers identified them as Kosanti Manasa (11),Tampa Tulasi (12),Tampa Yasoda (9) and Edurinti Balu (10). Devudala Neelaveni (12),managed to escape. Gas cylinder explodes on trawler,three die Paradip (Orissa): Three fishermen were killed and seven injured after a gas cylinder exploded on their trawler. Their bodies were recovered from the trawler near Paradip, said Captain Atul Mohapatra of the Paradip Port Trust. Three seriously injured fishermen have been admitted to SCB Medical College Hospital while four are in PPT hospital with minor injuries. PTI
