SP worker shot dead in bus LUCKNOW: A woman SP worker was shot dead while she was travelling in a bus in Sikandara police station area of Ramabai Nagar district on Tuesday. Ramabai Nagar SP Subhash Chandra Dubey said that the victim Shammi Kohli (48) was an accused in a murder case and the enmity over the same appeared to be a motive behind her killing. Kohli was sleeping when two youths went inside the bus and shot her dead. DGCA inquiry into AIs near-mishap MUMBAI/NEW DELHI: The DGCA has ordered a probe into the near mishap in which 121 people onboard an Air India plane had a miraculous escape when the aircrafts tail hit the runway in Mumbai while landing at high speed. The aircrafts two pilots,including a female commander,have been derostered from flying duties following the incident on Monday,sources in Mumbai said. Kushwaha in judicial custody GHAZIABAD: A special CBI court here on Tuesday remanded former UP Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and former BSP MLA Ram Pratap Jaiswal in judicial custody for 14 days in the multi-crore rupee NRHM scam. The two politicians,arrested on March 3,were produced in the CBI court after the expiry of their 10 days custody with CBI. The agency sought extension for another four days. However,the plea was turned down by the court. Bhanwari husband tries to retract JODHPUR: Bhanwari Devis husband Amarchand on Tuesday sought to retract his statement to the magistrate,saying it was made under the compulsion of the CBI. Amarchand,who is named in the charge-sheet filed by the CBI last month,in his application before the CBI court,said that he had given his statement under Section 164 of the CrPC after the agency compelled him to do so. He has also applied for proper medical care before the court. The incident took place after the villagers,most of them tribals and farm labourers,drank country-made liquor provided by local bootlegger Ram Tadvi on Tuesday.
