Woman drowns 8-month-old son
ALAPPUZHA: An eight-month old baby boy was drowned in a washing machine by his mother on Wednesday,said to be mentally ill,at Cherthala near here,police said. Suma 40,stated to be undergoing treatment by a psychiatrist for the past few months,surrendered at the womens cell of the police station here and confessed to the crime on Thursday.
NRI dentist accused of seducing patient
LONDON: An Indian dentist in Britain has been accused of trying to seduce a patient whose husband had been left with severe brain damage after an asthma attack. Milan Shah,a dentist from St Albans reportedly pestered the patient with telephone calls on weekends. He also wrongly told the patient that she would have to pay for treatment that could be received free on the National Health Service,offering to reduce the price if she spent some time with him,according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.
NRI charged with sexual misconduct
LONDON: An NRI woman teacher at a boys school in Britain has been charged with sexual misconduct against two teenaged students. Hina Patel,37,was charged with two counts of abusing her position of trust by engaging in sexual activity with students. The charges relate to alleged offences against two boys who were under 18 at the time.
Fahim produced in Mumbai court
MUMBAI: Fahim Ansari,acquitted in the 26/11 case,was on Thursday produced before a sessions court and sent to 14 days in judicial custody. Ansari and co-accused Sahabuddin Ahmed,also acquitted,had been transferred to a jail in Uttar Pradesh where they are facing trial for an attack on a CRPF camp in Rampur. Sahabuddin will be produced after a few days,sources said.
Nityananda case: CID submits CD
BANGALORE: The CID,probing criminal charges including rape against controversial self-styled godman Nityananda on Thursday submitted two sealed covers containing a CD and some documents pertaining to the case before the Karnataka High Court. The court adjourned hearing of Nityanandas petition to September 29.
3 PCAPA members held in Jhargram
KOLKATA: A group of around 40 women led by Panmoni Soren,wife of Purna Soren,started agitating in front of the police station three PCAPA members were arrested from the Beliabera police station area in Jhargram. Villagers of Beliabera also blocked the Lodhashuli-Jhargram state highway.
