UN chief discusses MDG with India Inc
Mumbai: United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon on Saturday held talks with business leaders on furthering initiatives under the Millenium Development Goals (MDG). In tangible ways,we can use our business acumen to advance progress already underway to ensure healthier,stronger futures for women and children, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani,an MDG advocate,said in a statement. Other representatives from India Inc,including Arun Nanda from Mahindra and S Ramadorai representing Tata.
Sensex rises 53 pts in special trade
Mumbai: The BSE benchmark Sensex moved up by 53 points in a special 90-minute trading on Saturday with investors purchasing banking and realty stocks. The 30-share barometer opened marginally higher and hovered in a range of 17,212.36 and 17,125.88,before ending higher by 53.09 points at 17,187.34.
India to host ADB meet in May 2013
NEW DELHi: India will host the 46th Annual Meeting the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in May next year,which is expected to be attended by 4,000 delegates from across 67 countries. This would be the third time that India would be hosting the Annual Meeting of Board of Governors of the institution.
Decision making is slow in India: Mittal
Bhatinda: Lakshmi N Mittal on Saturday said decision-making in India is slow but he would not complain about policy paralysis.
We have businesses all over the world. I tell my guys dont complain about the policies,try to adopt…policies… We dont complain. We have tried to adapt to local policies. We will all have to adjust to the new policies, said Mittal.
Decision making was slow,Mittal added. Surely things are moving slowly. There is no doubt. Process approval are taking time. The biggest impediment is still infrastructure development, Mittal added.
